Job Description


Job Summary Key Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

Customer management

  • The product managerxe2x80x99s responsibility is to identify, develop and manage all aspects of customer relationships;
  • The product manager should be proactive in the preparation and scheduling of regular planned customer calls against an agreed schedule;
  • The product manager should manage and resolve customer queries and complaints;
Transaction management
  • The product managerxe2x80x99s role is to continually consider the transactions and sales so that they are optimally structured in considering benefits of a group structure xe2x80x93 tax efficiency of deals, currency, deal flow, logistics benefits;
  • The product manager should aim to expand group focus in transactions where opportunity exists;
Project management
  • The product manager is responsible for project management in the product group and for the successful integration of projects into the regular course of business, horizon 1 (H1);
  • The product manager has the responsibility for the on-going management and development of H1 projects that drive the business development of the product and industry group. This responsibility should be managed by regular consultation with the IGM;
  • This H1 project pipeline should always be active, reported on and visible to the industry groups and IGM;
Financial management
  • The product manager is responsible for weekly analytical review of actual to forecast sales, margins and profitability;
  • Financial management - the product manager should report monthly to the IGM with variance analysis on key ratios;
  • The product manager is responsible for providing accurate and informed budget and forecast information annually or when required;
  • The product manager should liaise when required with the financial manager to discuss cash utilisation and financial variables impacting sales, stock, margins etc;
  • The product manager should be in regular contact with the finance and administration department to ensure optimal working capital utilisation and cost control;
  • The product manager is responsible for the quarterly review of their budgets and forecast information with submission of variance analysis reports to the IGM;
  • The product manager is responsible for the ordering and management of the stock within agreed key indicators and where applicable in consultation with his/her IGM or other divisional IGMxe2x80x99s.
Reporting and knowledge managament
  • The product manager is responsible for the sharing of information and analysis of information within his/her product groups.
  • This would include:
  • Ensuring timeous and qualitative sales visit reports with actions and key information from own customers;
  • Ensure the timeous and qualitative principal visit reporting with actions and key information from own principals,
  • Regular competitor analysis.
The emphasis of this responsibility is quality of information and this would include xe2x80x93 timeous circulation, analysis and actions.

Communication
  • The product manager is responsible for ensuring a regular flow of information in the industry group both upward and downward. This would include regular meetings with industry group members and the recording of action based minutes with accountabilities.
HR Management
  • The product manager is responsible in consultation with the IGM for his/her staff memberxe2x80x99s performance management review through the Group EPR, managing staff development, mentoring, training and career development discussions through the training needs analysis and 360 reviews.
Principal management
  • The PRODUCT MANAGER is responsible for the relationship with principals in line with the Group objectives.
  • This would include the following:
  • Existing principal management, scheduling of meetings, visits etc.;
  • Schedule and manage the principal visits in consultation with IGM, SRs with broader Group consideration;
  • Information and communication flow from principal.
  • New principal identification and development
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:
  • Academic qualifications relevant to industry Grouping xe2x80x93 Degree or Diploma;
  • A proven understanding of basic management accounts and finance;
  • Practical technical experience;
  • Related sales experience;
  • Marketing experience;
  • People management experience;
  • Industry specific experience.
