Job Description


:

We are looking for a seasoned Procurement Specialist that is experienced in Technical Procurement. This role exists within a company that designs and builds plants and equipment for the Mining Industry. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective procurement of materials and equipment.

Your Responsibilities will Include:

  • Technical Review:Reviewing and assessing technical specifications, Bills of Material (BOM), and drawings to guarantee accurate ordering from approved suppliers.
  • Demand Analysis: Analyzing and evaluating all purchasing demands to ensure clarity and completeness in the description of materials and equipment.
  • Quotation Review: Reviewing supplier quotations to determine the best price and delivery date, ensuring competitiveness and adherence to quality standards.
  • Request for Quotations (RFQs): Preparing and issuing RFQs in line with the company's approved supplier list, demonstrating attention to detail and adherence to procurement processes.
  • Supplier Management: Managing relationships with suppliers to ensure accurate and clear requirements in terms of drawings, specifications, BOM, quality inspections, quantity, price, and delivery date.
  • Purchase Order Preparation: Preparing and issuing purchase orders in accordance with selected suppliers, price negotiations, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Negotiation Skills: Utilizing strong negotiation skills with suppliers to secure target prices, align with company terms and conditions, and determine the most efficient mode of transportation.
  • Planning and Reporting:Engaging in detailed planning and reporting activities related to procurement processes, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
  • Comparative Analyses: Preparing comparative analyses based on competitive costing, quality, up-to-date price lists, on-time delivery, and correctness of documentation.
  • Coordination: Coordinating various technical reviews with projects and end-users, maintaining effective working relations as a team member.
  • Market Monitoring: Monitoring market conditions and merchandise costs to make informed procurement decisions.
  • Ad Hoc Duties:Undertaking ad hoc duties as required from time to time to support the smooth functioning of the procurement function.
Requirements

Minimum Criteria:
  • Trade/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and or Supply Chain/Procurement Diploma.
  • We are looking for a minimum of 5 years experience in Technical Procurement (preferably from the Construction / Mining Industry).
  • We're looking for a technical aptitude, someone that can read technical drawings and has experience with fabrication, machining, foundries etc.
  • Your strength should be in Buying Raw Materials, Parts and Equipment for Projects.
