Job Description


The primary focus of the role will be to assist, support and guide the local and Austral Africa (AA) teams within the group procurement policies and parameters. The incumbent will be responsible for understanding industry trends, identifies sources, strategic supplier and partners for solutions goods and services from both local and international in line with group objectives.

Required Skills

xc2xb7 BCom Degree or similar relevant Diploma

xc2xb7 8 to 10 years related in a Procurement environment, preferably in the FMCG industry

xc2xb7 Thorough understanding of South African and Austral Africa procurement processes, policies and strategies

xc2xb7 Understanding of sustainability and environmental practices within the food industry would be advantageous

xc2xb7 Experience in managing relationships with key suppliers

xc2xb7 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail

xc2xb7 Strong organizational and project management skills

xc2xb7 Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization

xc2xb7 Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

xc2xb7 Ability to travel locally to the local sites and sites in neighbouring African countries

xc2xb7 Continuous Improvement mindset with the focus on cost saving and compliance

xc2xb7 Strong negotiation skills

xc2xb7 Ability to lead a team of procurement professionals

Duties & Responsibilities

Procurement Policies and Strategies

  • Works with cross functional teams to develop category sourcing and vendor management sourcing.
  • Analyses industry trends, identifies sources, strategic supplier and partners for solutions goods and services from both local and international in line with group objectives.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the procurement policies of the Group at AA level
  • General responsible for the achievement of the objectives and results at the country level
  • Responsible for monitoring procurement needs at AA level.
  • Responsible for directing and efficient management of all tasks related to the purchase of the country and regular coordination with local General Manager
  • Develops and implements efficiencies, standardized tools, practices and procedures.
  • Implements and develops category management processes and reviews on regular basis to ensure relevance and compliance with best practises, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory policies.
Total Cost Ownership and Analysis
  • Manages and develops resources to deliver business partner satisfaction & achievement of overall business and financial objectives
  • Delivers on cost reduction commitments through identification, development and execution of innovation strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Assesses and reports on specific category & contract spend, conducting regular total cost analysis to track performance results.
  • Establishes Total cost ownership practises and reinforces through regular benchmarking and periodic RFPxe2x80x99s
  • Responsible for control over the entire procurement chain at AA level
  • Responsible for the research - analysis of the local/regional procurement market
  • Responsible for the continuous savings tracking and reducing the costs of procurement at AA level
  • Responsible for carrying out checks on the buyerxe2x80x99s activities in AA countries
  • Responsible for regular periodic reporting about the results of the procurement process
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly and annual procurement planning
  • Responsible for the implementation of innovation processes in procurement process
  • Cooperation with other functions & stakeholder management nationally
  • Will coordinate & execute strategy with Country stakeholders on Direct, Indirect & Industrial purchases.
  • Drafting and finalization of vendor contracts & SLA, including setting up supplier performance metrics and reporting mechanisms.
  • Minimizes risk in area of responsibility, by ensuring due diligence in all areas.
