2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the procurement process of all goods, equipment, repair material and services, through the use of the relevant software (currently Maximo/SAP), according to good utility practice, company rules and procedures, legal, contractual and other requirements.
  • Draft, implement, update, roll out and maintain the organisations procurement policies and procedures in order to ensure transparency, fairness and confidentiality.
  • Manage the governance, functional and operational aspects related to the ERP system.
  • Formulate and analyse procurement reports in order to facilitate effective decision making by the Executive team.
  • Responsible for managing strategic sourcing and negotiating activities on behalf of the company by analysing the supply market, identifying potential suppliers, negotiating the most effective option while ensuring high standards of quality and ethics and ensuring compliance to all local and group policies.
  • Demonstrate cost reduction and savings initiatives by reducing consumption where possible, consolidating of procurement spend, increasing competition amongst suppliers, improvement of specifications and developing and maintaining supplier relationships.
  • Ensure good relations with suppliers and vendors and perform regular supplier evaluations & audits. Ensure proper due diligence procedures are carried out when onboarding new suppliers.
  • Liaise with international vendors and OEM's for parts and services and manage the inbound logistics process leveraging the Company's category management system.
  • Liaise with SHEQ department to ensure contractor compliance to Engie Health & Safety rules.
  • Develop and manage the tender process for all contracts, negotiate the terms and conditions, draft final contracts and manage the post award relationship with the contractors.
  • Develop the B-BBEE strategy for procurement. Submit quarterly and annual reports according to contractual obligations. Identifying and recommending enterprise and suppliers for ED/SD projects.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements with regards to Procurement (specifically with regards to BBBEE procurement)
  • Responsible for all insurance renewals and claims for the organisation.
  • Work closely with the South African Team and AMEA Procurement team to create synergies with other Engie sites and submit all procurement reports required by the Engie group.
  • Coordinate procurement with internal stakeholders such as maintenance and operations, SHEQ, finance and administration.
  • Recruit, train, develop and manage the procurement staff. Ensure staff are challenged in their roles.
  • Ensure the availability of minimum stock levels and purchase in the most economic quantities as much as possible and coordinate with the stores for receiving, evaluating and issuing goods.
  • Support the business in all new projects where input from procurement is required.
  • Ensure procurement for minor and major maintenance outages are well co-ordinated and planned.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Delegation of Authority.
3. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Essential Qualifications:
  • B-Tech / University Degree in Procurement Management or Supply Chain Management.
  • Demonstrated competence, supported with adequate training.
  • CIPS is advantageous.
Experience:
  • At least 5 years' experience in procurement of a medium to large industrial company (experience in a large power plant is advantageous);
  • Mastering good purchasing practices;
  • Understanding of power plant operation and maintenance;
  • Exposure to a computerized maintenance management system;
  • Interaction and building relationships with maintenance, purchasing, finance, operations, engineering, safety and HR;
  • KPI reporting;
  • SAP is advantageous but not essential;
  • Working in a matrix organization.

Language:
  • English Language: excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Afrikaans/Zulu is an advantage;
IT:
  • Computer literate: must have a high degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as Databases, Word Processors, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Enterprise Resource Planning applications (Maximo/SAP or equivalent);
