Duties & Responsibilities:

Our ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end sourcing, contracting, and supplier management across Afrirent 's operational divisions, Fleet (Leasing), Auto, Workshops, and RefurbishmentbCentres. The role ensures cost-effective procurement vehicles, parts, materials, and services while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and transformation. The position plays a key strategic role in minimizing commercial opportunities through discounts, rebates, and Settlement terms, leveraging national buying power, and integrating procurement across multiple systems and business platforms. The manager must have strong technical knowledge of vehicles (Passenger and Commercial), trailers, workshop equipment, and be capable of negotiating with OEMs, dealers, and parts suppliers to ensure optimal pricing and supply performance.

Key duties include:

Governance & Compliance



Develop and enforce controls to prevent irregular expenditure. Ensure compliance with legislation, company policies, and best practices. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments on procurement and fleet management processes. Prepare and present statutory and management reports on time.

2. Procurement & Supply Chain Management



Develop and implement national procurement and sourcing strategies for fleet, auto, workshop, and refurbishment divisions. Negotiate contracts with OEMs, suppliers, and service providers to secure cost-effective, high-quality goods and services. Centralize purchasing of high-volume items to reduce duplication and achieve economies of scale. Manage supplier performance, contracts, SLAs, and quarterly reviews. Ensure B-BBEE and ESD (Enterprise and Supplier Development) compliance and reporting.

3. Fleet Strategy & Operations



Develop strategies for fleet vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and disposal aligned with company growth plans. Evaluate vehicle specifications to meet operational and customer requirements. Manage procurement for vehicle-related services (insurance, tracking, fuel, roadside, rentals). Oversee workshop tools, parts, consumables, and refurbishment material procurement.

4. Financial & Cost Management



Monitor procurement and fleet budgets to achieve cost savings through volume discounts, rebates, and optimized sourcing. Conduct total cost of ownership (TCO) and cost-per-rebuild (CPR) analyses. Track, report, and validate realized savings versus targets. Implement cost-to-value and demand-planning strategies for efficient inventory control.

5. Data, Systems & Reporting



Integrate procurement data across ERP and operating systems. Develop dashboards for spend visibility, supplier performance, and category management. Analyze procurement data to identify cost trends, inefficiencies, and risks. Produce monthly executive reports on performance, savings, and transformation progress.

6. Leadership & Team Development



Lead and develop a multidisciplinary procurement and fleet team. Define clear roles, KPIs, and performance targets aligned with business goals. Provide training, mentoring, and succession planning for team members. Foster collaboration across procurement, operations, and finance for strategic alignment. Promote a high-performance, ethical, and accountable culture.
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business administrator Drivers licences. Knowledge of SARS import/export regulations, RMI standards, and OEM accreditation requirements preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years in procurement role, with at least 3 years in automotive, fleet rental, or management industry in South Africa. Proven technical experience with vehicles and workshops (e.g., Managing, procurement for repair bays, tooling, and Diagnostic equipment) Proven Experience managing multi-branch or national procurement operations. Ability to negotiate with OEMs, dealers, and aftermarket suppliers. Experience with ERP systems and procurement platforms. Strong understanding of B-BBEE procurement principles and enterprise supplier development programs.
