Formal tertiary qualification relevant to the role
Proficient in the MS office suite
At least 5 years' relevant experience in procurement or packaging development
At least 2 years' experience in the management of staff
Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing
Develops and executes a defined strategy for packaging procurement which is understood and supported by stakeholders
Is a key contributor to the new product development or product change process
Maintains a spend category balanced scorecard aligned to the company goals focused on key metrics
Ensures goods and services are procured competitively according to overall value for the business and not just price
Drives and tracks projects which would lead to improved cost, quality or service
Negotiates prices, terms and contractual commitments that are in the best interest of the company balanced with sustainable business relationships with our suppliers
Inputs into and works within a given budget to purchase goods and services
Operational Procurement
Manages stock-holding value with the aim to reduce cash allocated to stocks without compromising on service
Ensures on-time supply of materials to meet production requirements and issues are highlighted proactively with mitigation plans
Procures goods and service in accordance with the company ethical, quality and environment/health and safety polices
Checks invoices for accuracy, and authorizes the accounts payable department to issue payment
Drives supplier development actions such as performance management; reviews; risk assessments to ensure our suppliers are meeting our requirements
Accountable for inputting accurate master data for suppliers and materials to ensure the enterprise system can automate as much of the ordering process accurately as possible.
Contributes to company BBBEE targets by driving improvement in preferential procurement and balancing this against cost, quality and service
Contributes to the business profitability outlook by sourcing market information and converting this to future assumed pricing for costing purposes. This includes the business budget process.
Leadership
Establish, guide, direct and drive the packaging procurement team in terms of overall company strategy and objectives.
Identify and timeously address problems and opportunities central to business success.
Plan, select, develop, and maintain suitable staff capabilities for the department.
Develop and maintain a high-performance team.
Proactively manage stakeholders to support your company goals (internal customers and supplier mindset).
Ensure compliance with relevant legal and statutory requirements, meet principles of sound corporate governance, and accepted environmental, health, safety and quality standards.
Maintains a good relationship with the leadership team and ensuring that contract awards are positioned for input and approval

Leads the professional and compliant management of their assigned warehouse including managing the staff and efficient operations
Assures continued supply by developing alternative sources as a risk mitigation strategy
