As the Process Support Officer, you will provide support with the production plant performance management which will include providing accurate data entry, validation, and ongoing maintenance of databases as well as supporting efficient internal water use by collaborating with mining operations and managing excess water for treatment.

More of your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the weekly monitoring of water levels and dewatering rates to ensure timely data updates
  • Supporting the monitoring and oversight of the sludge transport and disposal operation
  • Providing assistance in the operation and maintenance of mine water collection systems as well as monitoring variable chemical consumption and associated costs
  • Providing support towards the effective management and control, specifically focusing on initiatives to improve water efficiency
  • Supporting efficient and safe operation of the Brine Treatment Facility through contractor management
  • Providing support in in safe operation of the Brine Treatment Facility by evaluating contractor performance as well as ensuring compliance and adherence to legal and environmental standards
  • Providing assistance in pilot plant trials, plant commissioning, non-conformance investigations, and troubleshooting
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of capital and operational projects by delivering admin funding approvals as well as the development of integrated plans for various projects, incorporating all stakeholders and technical functions
  • Reviewing progress reports on Environmental Management Programme Report (EMPR), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and Water Use Licence Application (WULA) progress
  • Submitting environmental reports to relevant regulatory bodies as well as facilitating environmental knowledge sharing, ensuring stakeholder awareness through training and compliance
Qualifications
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant field
  • BEng in Water utilisation or equivalent (advantageous)
Experience
  • Minimum of 2-4 years' experience in processing role within a water treatment facility or applicable processing plant
  • Good experience in the mining industry
  • Good experience in environmental management
Additional Information
  • Proficient knowledge of water treatment plant operations, processes, facilities, and equipment
  • Proficient knowledge of the administrative principles and practices pertaining to the operation of a water treatment facility
  • Emerging knowledge of the principles and applications of physics and chemistry relating to water
  • Emerging knowledge of data analysis and reporting techniques, processes, and tools
