Process Engineer - Somerset WestFull job descriptionProcess EngineerRheinmetall Denel Munition (RF) (Pty) Ltd in Somerset West Cape TownRheinmetall/Process Engineer Ref.-Nr.:ZA00603Schedule type:Full TimeContract Type:Permanent Position WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORThe Process Engineer will be responsible for driving operational efficiency and productivity across the organization by identifying and implementing process improvements. Their efforts are aimed at reducing costs, enhancing product quality and improving customer satisfaction through continuous improvement of processes.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:Support production facilities from a process engineering perspectivePerform data analysis, root cause analysis and identify and implement process improvements to support issue resolution and optimizing production processes to eliminate losses, improve quality, capacity, throughput and conversion cost.Conducting process capability studies to establish optimal product rationalization on production lines and provide input to the production planning team.Evaluate manufacturing process by designing in collaboration with Process development engineers and conducting research; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and material; consulting equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.Be the process custodian, evaluate new innovations as it is deployed.Initiate, plan and execute OPEX and CAPEX Projects.Evaluate the impact of projects on current processes, and develop and implement appropriate changes relating to operating, safety and quality.Map current operational processes and propose the best layout possible.Execute value stream mapping to identify value-creating and nonvalue-creating activities in area of responsibility.Support plant with process related management of change (Modification)Take lead for the implementation of Overall Equipment Efficiency in area of responsibility.Assist with plant technical documentation i.e., PMI, FOI and related documents as required.Assist and/or update, create, verify and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM's).Assist and/or update, create, verify and maintain process routings (Bill of Process, BoP) of products. This will require specialized knowledge with respect to RDM 's facilities, plants, processes and equipment.The basic maintenance and upkeep of existing administrative procedures and recommendations for continuous upgrades to such systems.Facilitate HAZOP studies and process risk assessmentsIdentify the failure modes and effects of the processFirst line support for operations/production.WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVEBSc or BEng in Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalentMinimum of 3 years within the engineering field with a proven record of process design experience.Working knowledge of any of the following would be advantageousProcess Mapping processValue stream mappingTotal Productivity MaintenanceStatistical Process control,Equipment Reliability,Overall Equipment Efficiency,Process Design and equipment selection,Process and continuous improvements engineering and,Lean manufacturingKnowledge of SHE/OHS/Quality Systems/Explosives Act and relevant legislation. (advantageous)Knowledge of Explosives Act and relevant legislation.
