Job Advert Summary

To assist the Supervisor in washing and sterilising of sand filters by opening and closing manual valves. General cleaning of filter houses, toilets, change room and eating facilities and assisting in maintaining the sand filter beds. Monitor/operate sump pumps to prevent flooding of Filter House.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 1 year experience

Primary Duties

Assist in sand Filter maintenance, check filters, top up sand in filter beds, remove mud balls, tilting, sieving of filter bed, clean spreader holes, plates, drains and sand traps in filter houses Assist in washing sand filters Sterilising of sand filters Monitor and operate sump pumps, visual check amp meter Shift routine, Manual hand feeding lime and HTH, general assistance during filter house shutdowns, clean facilities i.e. toilets, changing rooms, eating facilities Occupational Health and Safety, look after PPE issued, report injuries, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions which may result in injury or harm to Rand Water employees, chemical spills and incidents to the Supervisor.
