-The Stakeholder & Government Relations Principal will manage the relationships with all stakeholders, and support collaboration between Anglo American in SA, government, business, MINCOSA and other key stakeholders. Key responsibilities:

  • Support the crafting of stakeholder engagement plans
  • Align the strategy, policies and plans with RSA legislation and AA policies
  • Contribute to the Corporate Relations strategy on government relations, social performance and sustainability
  • Evaluate the impact of stakeholder engagements in consultation with the BUs and give feedback to AASA & BUs
  • Support the coordination of intervention in support of sites, BUs and executive office where required
  • Support BUs in managing initiatives at local, regional, provincial government and national levels
  • Monitor and ensure delivery of commitments and realisation of AASA objects at all governmental levels in collaboration with BUs
  • Identify and manage risks relating to all stakeholders
  • Manage partnerships and programmes with all levels of government and other key stakeholders
  • Conduct stakeholder surveys and make regular reports
  • Facilitate meetings for internal corporate departments with relevant external stakeholders.
  • Nurture beneficial relationship with government at regional and national levels

  • Qualifications
    -A B-degree in the relevant field
  • A post graduate qualification would be an added advantage
  • Project management qualification would be advantageous
Experience:
  • At least 10 years’ experience of working in the field of stakeholder management
  • Experience in dealing with external stakeholders at a senior level
  • Experience in dealing with internal stakeholders at senior management level, executive, and board levels
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects/programmes/partnerships
  • Experience in the extractive industry and relevant role in a multinational organization would be advantageous
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations including but not limited to the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA); Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA); Mining Charter, BBBEE Act (would be advantageous; Public Finance Management Act
  • Understanding of the socio-economic and political landscape
  • Knowledge of the mining industry and business landscape in SA (will be an advantage)
  • Knowledge of communications (verbal and written) and engagement strategies and presentation writing skills and engagements
  • Financial management skills would be advantageous
  • Influencing and networking skills
