Principal Software Engineer
Location: South Africa
Join us as we accelerate towards becoming a high-growth, AI-driven cybersecurity platform with a target ARR of $100M.
We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer who will combine hands-on engineering with architectural vision to build secure, scalable platforms that anticipate tomorrow's threats. This is a senior leadership role where your expertise will shape the future of cybersecurity.
Your Responsibilities:

• Architect and Deliver: Design and implement complex, security-critical solutions for cloud-native environments.
• Hands-on Development: Write high-quality production code in Go, ensuring performance and resilience.
• Security by Design: Embed secure coding practices, threat modeling, and least privilege principles throughout the SDLC.
• AI Integration: Drive responsible adoption of AI tools and features to enhance product capabilities.
• Automation & CI/CD: Champion automation and quality standards across engineering teams.
• Customer-Centric Solutions: Collaborate with Product and SRE teams to translate customer needs into robust technical solutions.
• Mentorship: Lead code reviews, coach engineers, and foster best practices in security and engineering.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Strategic Contribution: Reduce technical debt and influence long-term platform strategy.

Your Story:

• 15+ years in professional software engineering, including senior/principal roles.
• Expert-level experience with Go in production systems.
• Strong background in Kubernetes-based platforms and distributed systems.
• Proven experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures.
• Deep understanding of API design, observability, and operational excellence.
• Security-first mindset with experience building security-sensitive products.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and distributed teams.
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
