Purpose of the Role




To lead and manage Abbotts High School Pretoria East within the ADvTECH Schools Division, fostering a distinctive culture of academic excellence, personal growth, and holistic development that aligns with the Abbotts philosophy. The Principal will champion an inclusive, learner-centred environment that supports individual pathways to success, while ensuring operational efficiency and the upholding of Abbotts' values-driven ethos. Responsibilities include providing strategic leadership, overseeing innovative curriculum delivery tailored to Abbotts' unique approach, supporting staff professional growth, engaging with all stakeholders, and driving the ongoing development and strong reputation of the school within the Pretoria East community and the broader Abbotts network.

Key Responsibilities



Provide visionary leadership aligned with Abbotts mission and values. Drive academic excellence across all phases, ensuring curriculum compliance and innovation. Lead and manage the school's strategic and operational plans, including budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability among staff and students. Build strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and the broader community. Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., but not limited to IEB, Umalusi etc.). Champion the integration of technology and innovation in teaching and learning. Lead marketing and enrolment initiatives to support school enrolment growth and brand positioning. Mentor and develop academic and administrative staff to build competency and capacity. Attract, retain, and develop educators of exceptional quality. Encourage and support ongoing staff development.

Minimum Requirements



Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed) or equivalent; a Master's Degree in Education or Educational Leadership or Business Administration is advantageous. Minimum of 5-7 years of senior leadership experience in a reputable school of standing and excellence. Proven track record of academic and operational leadership. Strong academic and business qualifications. Deep understanding of South African curricula (IEB is preferable). Fully conversant with current trends and developments in education. SACE registration (mandatory).
