Blueprint Interpretation

: Meticulously studying engineering drawings and work orders to determine exact dimensions, angles, and bending sequences.

CNC Programming

: Inputting data into Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software to automate complex multi-bend operations with high repeatability.

Quality Control

: Monitoring the bending process and using precision tools like

calipers

,

micrometers

, and

gauges

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

: Proficiency with CNC software, blueprint reading, and knowledge of metal properties (e.g., how different materials react to bending).

Mathematical Aptitude

: Strong arithmetic skills, including geometry and trigonometry, to calculate bend allowances and material thickness.

Physical Stamina

: Capability to stand for long shifts (often 8-12 hours) and lift heavy materials, typically up to

50 lbs

.

Attention to Detail

: Precision is critical; errors as small as a fraction of a millimetre can result in defective parts.
