Act as data custodian for the business. Ensure good data governance is adhered to throughout the data lifecycle of all data assets. Act as the business representative for all data management requirements from reporting and analytics, data required for business decisions and project builds. Owns data on behalf of the business including the approver of data assets generated in the relevant data repositories.
Essential Functions:

  • Create plans and roadmaps to guide execution of Data and Information requirements in line with data strategy Implement data curation practices to ensure that the life span of data is commensurate with requirements
  • Develop business and data quality rules, data-quality metrics and requirements, including the values, ranges, and parameters that are acceptable for each data element to ensure consistency as well as continuously monitor and measure the quality of data.
  • Apply due diligence against the minimum data lifecycle standard requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Adapt data ownership practices within the area of responsibility to improve governance of critical data elements and attributes.
  • Ensure that Data maturity baseline assessments have been done, to enable intentional data improvement initiatives to meet the data management standard(s) requirements.
  • Work with relevant risk partners to close any data and information audit findings and risks to drive corrective actions and implement preventative actions to improve compliance

Experience Required:

5-7 years
Experience in a data role with sound understanding of data analysis, validation and manipulation. Must have experience in working with metadata, data linage and data architecture. Sound knowledge of data platfoms, cloud architecture and data security. Experience within the Standard Bank Group will be advantageous.

Experience in data governance with understanding of information risk, privacy and protection of information and the regulations that speak to it. Must be able to understand and apply data governance policies and standards, interpret regulation and align it with business requirements. Must be able to advise business on how to manage and mitigate data risk. Experience within the Standard Bank Group will be advantageous.
5-7 years
Experience in managing data throughout the data lifecycle, documenting data artifacts, define, capture and communicate data rules. Must be able to measure and manage data quality and close identified gaps. Must have the ability to translate business requirements to technical requirements
5-7 years
Understanding of and experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving skills and awareness of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Sound understanding of how data flows between systems, ETL and processing of structured and unstructured data within the data architecture. Ability to read and interpret code
Experience in project co-ordination, planning and project tracking in a complex business environment. Sound experience in working in muilt disciplinary teams, managing stakeholders and leveraging networks. Ability to breakdown a goal to manageable and measurable work tasks. Experience within the Standard Bank Group will be advantageous.
