About Urban Care
We are a well-established and expanding multi-site medical centre in Zanzibar, providing high-quality healthcare services through a dedicated team of GPs, nurses, dental, allied and administrative staff. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Practice Manager to lead the operational, administrative, and financial management of the practice. This is a senior leadership position suited to a professional with a strong background in healthcare operations and proven experience in managing multi-site practices.
With two clinics and growing, Urban Care is setting new standards for private primary healthcare in Zanzibar, combining clinical excellence with exceptional service.
Role Purpose
The Medical Practice Manager will be accountable for ensuring operational excellence, optimizing financial and administrative processes, and supporting clinical effectiveness. The role requires a strategic thinker with the ability to implement scalable systems, drive performance, and deliver accurate reporting to support decision-making and business growth. A medical qualification will be considered advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
Oversee the daily operations of all Urban Care clinics, ensuring smooth coordination of front-office, clinical support, and administrative teams.
Maintain operational excellence across patient service delivery, facility management, and resource allocation.
Front Office Oversight:
Lead, coach, and develop multidisciplinary teams.
Manage scheduling, performance appraisals, and recruitment coordination.
Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance workplace culture.
Financial Management:
Supervise billing, collections, and reconciliation of insurance and cash accounts.
Monitor expenditure, budgets, and revenue performance.
Prepare monthly performance and financial reports for management.
Clinical Coordination:
Work closely with the clinical leadership team to uphold high standards of patient care and safety.
Ensure compliance with health regulations, internal SOPs, and quality benchmarks.
Reporting & Analysis:
Oversee use and accuracy of the electronic practice management system.
Implement scalable systems to support growth, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
Growth & Scaling:
Build and maintain relationships with insurers, suppliers, and local authorities.
Identify and implement operational improvements to support business expansion.
People Management:
Lead, train, and motivate multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years' experience in healthcare operations or medical practice management (multi-site experience preferred).
Strong financial, operational, and leadership acumen.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with medical billing and practice management software.
Proven ability to analyze and report on key business metrics.
Experience working in multicultural or international settings.
A healthcare-related qualification is an advantage.
