Job Description


Only full-time and permanent members of the academic staff of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of the Free State (UFS) may apply for this position.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing and redesigning the postgraduate offerings by involving all relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing new postgraduate learning programmes in consultation with industry and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in taking leadership of the development of postgraduate programmes in the school.
  • Assist in developing and managing the operational support plan of the postgraduate programmes in the school.
  • Assist in providing general leadership of the postgraduate programmes in the school.
  • Be responsible for financial management and the application for research grants to sustain and further build postgraduate programmes in the school.
  • Motivate and lead employees to achieve transformation in postgraduate studies and research within the school and the institution.
  • Ensure that the activities of the postgraduate programmes are undertaken in accordance with the governance, policy, and regulatory frameworks of the University.
  • Be responsible for quality assurance of all postgraduate offerings in the school through, amongst others, student and supervisor feedback.
  • Provide top-quality, research-informed facilitation of learning to ensure appropriate learning and improvement on postgraduate level.
  • Assist in assuming responsibility for the academic quality of the postgraduate programmes in the school.
  • Assist in managing academic administration.
  • Ensure scholarship of high quality and specialised expertise, linked to the professional development of all academic staff in the school as recognised researchers within their respective fields.
  • Ensure growth of the research component within the school, linked to consistent research activity by all academic staff in the school.
Inherent Job requirements:
  • A PhD on NQF level ten (10) in a healthcare or a related field in the School of Health Rehabilitation Sciences.
Recommendations:
  • Record of consistent research activity and output in the last 3-5 years.
