The postdoctoral fellows is expected to undertake original science research in the pharmacology of medicinal plants This include discovery research preclinical to clinical research to formulation work. The job entail drug discovery work for diseases such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension, pain, wound healing, Alzheimer disease, malaria, cardiovascular diseases. The job entails phytochemical purification and a knowledge of medical cannabis purification would be important. Knowledge of plant agronomy with plant genetic analysis is also a position being offered. The job also seeks to find 2 analytical chemists to do analytical method development. Knowledge of spectroscopic techniques and instrumentation is important.

The job entails that the fellow participates in all departmental activities, national and international. This include lecturing to postgraduate students as well undertake community work. The fellow is also expected to co-supervise postgraduate research projects as some of the job activities. It is also important that the fellow applies for research grant to undertake the research.

The fellow is expected to publish 3 research articles per year as part of the job requirements. The main job is the herbal formulation responsibility as well as pharmaceutical research.

The University of the Free State (UFS) invites applications from suitably qualified candidate for a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology, IKS Research Group. ‍ A Candidate interested in pursuing an academic or professional career in (research) ethnopharmacology and pharmacology, with special research interest in ethnopharmacology, drug discovery and development based on herbal and traditional medicines are encouraged to apply. ‍ The Pharmacology department is looking for a candidates with herbal drug formulation notable experience in the field. Pharmaceutical sciences experience. Candidates with experience in pharmacology research molecular pharmacology herbal drug discovery, formulation studies and biochemistry are encouraged to apply. ‍ Applicants should have obtained their PhD degrees not more than 5 years ago. ‍ The Pharmacology department is looking for postdoctoral fellows with experience and interest in analytical method development (2 x candidates); Candidate with ethnopharmacology research and botany to work on our traditional medicines database development, knowledge of developing monographs is key as well as plant genetics studies (x 1 candidate). ‍ Candidate with experience in analytical instruments such as HPLC, Flash chromatography, IR, LC-MS (Agilent HRMS) and purification of natural products research (1 x candidate). Candidate with experience in pharmacology research molecular pharmacology herbal drug discovery and biochemistry are encouraged to apply (1 x candidate). ‍ This advert is looking for expertise in:
