The purpose of the Porter role is to provide essential operational and patient-support services by safely and efficiently transporting patients, medical equipment, and supplies throughout the hospital. The Porter contributes to smooth hospital operations, patient comfort, and timely service delivery while upholding patient dignity, confidentiality, and safety. This role is vital in supporting clinical teams and ensuring that hospital departments function effectively.

Key Work Output and Accountabilities:
Transport patients between wards, departments, theatres, and diagnostic areas
Assist with safe lifting, moving, and positioning of patients
Ensure wheelchairs, stretchers, and trolleys are clean and serviceable
Support nursing and clinical staff with general duties when required
Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality
Adhere to hospital safety, hygiene, and infection control standards
Report faulty equipment or safety risks timeously

Requirements
Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

Qualifications
Matric certificate
Previous hospital porter experience will be advantageous
