Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Podiatrist to join our healthcare team on Nauru Island. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive podiatric services to a diverse patient population. This role is crucial in addressing and managing lower limb and foot conditions, supporting overall mobility, and contributing to preventive healthcare in the community.

Key Responsibilities:



As a Podiatrist, you will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:

Clinical Responsibilities:

Assess, diagnose, and treat abnormalities and diseases of the foot and lower limbs in patients of all ages.

Provide specialist treatment for high-risk groups, including the elderly and individuals at increased risk of amputation.

Prescribe, produce, and fit orthotics and other aids or appliances.

Administer treatments including:

Prescription medications

Cryotherapy

Electrosurgery

Ultrasonic therapy

Specialized dressings

Exercise therapies

Use therapeutic and minor surgical techniques to manage foot and lower leg conditions, including nail and soft tissue surgery under local anesthesia.

Deliver foot health education and promote preventive care practices.

Provide referrals and advice to patients and collaborate with other healthcare professionals when necessary.

Treat sports-related injuries and provide rehabilitation advice, particularly for athletes.

Technical Skills:

Use a range of podiatric equipment, including:

Surgical instruments and dressings

Orthotic materials and shaping equipment

Treatment tables and lasers

Grinders and shaping tools

X-ray and video gait-analysis equipment

Qualifications and Experience:



Education: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited institution.

Residency: Completion of a 3-year podiatric residency program.

License: Valid license/registration to practice podiatry in home country or eligible for registration.

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of post-residency clinical experience preferred.

Strong understanding of biomechanics, sports medicine, and diabetic foot care.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
