Job Title: PMO / Build Smarter Lead

Job Level: 8Role Overview
Wexe2x80x99re looking for a driven and strategic PMO / Build Smarter Lead to oversee a large portfolio of construction projects across sub-Saharan Africa. This role is key to delivering smarter, more efficient restaurant builds and remodels, supporting over 100 new builds and 300 remodels annually-with a project investment of R1.2 billion. You'll lead the Build Smarter initiative, driving innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence across the system.Key Responsibilities
Area What You'll Do % Time
Project & Cost Management Lead all construction projects with a focus on saving at least 10% in cost or time through smarter building strategies and supplier optimization. 60%
Supply Chain Support Collaborate with the supply chain team and manage external consultants to optimize project delivery. 15%
Franchisee Support Share best practices, provide guidance to franchisees, and reduce downtime during remodels. 10%
Innovation & Sustainability Identify new technologies, suppliers, and materials that align with sustainability goals. 10%
Ad Hoc Projects Support other strategic business initiatives as needed. 5%Collaborations:

• Internal: Development, Supply Chain, Finance, Design, Ops, Construction, REX teams
• External: Architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, franchisees
• Communication Style: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and commercial skills needed

Experience and Requirements:
Experience (5-10 years):

• Project and construction management
• Cost control and contract negotiations
• Working in multi-outlet retail or QSR environments
• Legal frameworks and supplier management
• Advantage: Membership in professional councils (SACPCMP, PMI, RICS)

Qualifications:

• Degree in Project Management, Construction, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Architecture
• Advantage: MBA, MSc Property Studies, PMP, PRINCE2, or sustainability certs (e.g. EDGE, LEED)

Skills:

• Strong commercial and negotiation acumen
• Construction and lease management knowledge
• Project governance and planning experience
• Effective communicator and team collaborator

Working Conditions

• Office-based in Sandton with regular travel across Africa
• On-site presence at construction sites as needed
• Must be comfortable working in high-pressure, deadline-driven environment

Salary Band: R700 000 - R900 000 Annually depending on experience, skills, qualifications and current gross
