Job Description

Job Purpose




Develop and revise maintenance plans for continued airworthiness, by performing and Controlling the pre-planning process and critical path analysis of all maintenance events, while generating work packs and work scopes to ensure that correct aircraft receives maintenance at the opportune time in the most cost saving manner with regards to downtime, manpower and material without affecting quality and safety standards.

Principal Accountabilities



Analyse the aircraft anticipated utilization, flight schedule and available resources upon the introduction of new/used aircraft into the operation to;





Manage and oversee short, medium and long term-maintenance planning to achieve a well-balanced maintenance forecast and optimum service yields, for a safe and reliable revenue operation.

Prepare, scrutinize and present proposed maintenance schedules to management and other stakeholders.

Scrutinise work packs for accuracy and completeness, by performing quality checks.

Provide inputs and recommendations to management, on the maintenance planning, scheduling and CAMO activities.

Identify and monitor critical path and resource constraints in terms of tooling, special procedures, and material.

Oversee the compilation of work packs, tasks allocation into maintenance checks/events, allocation and assignment of respective job account/project number to maintenance events.

Ensure compliance to maintenance & reliability programs, regulatory requirements and prescribed limitations by overseeing compliance, monitoring and tracking.


Create a communicative channel between operators, maintenance and support areas on maintenance requirements and reporting.





Act as a point of contact and source of expertise for others in the organization and/or externally, in providing detailed professional advice.

Initiate, arrange, chair maintenance schedule meetings and attend operational meetings to co-ordinate activities between departments and customers.

Develop and introduce new or improved systems/methods to improve the processes and efficiency. This includes review of industry developments and adoption of best practices.

Manage the resolutions of in-service problems within SAAT to maintain/improve aircraft, its engines and its components records.

Ensure that a complete pre-planned work-pack and additional information

are handed to Production Control as per the SLA's.

Participate in the work-pack hand-over and short term planning meetings

Co-ordinate and control the execution of special projects as required.

Resolve maintenance queries, including investigation and rectification of

requirements queries.

Liaise with respective stakeholders for corrective actions on documentation as required for the amendment of task cards/work orders, minor check schedules, man-hours and other resources.




Develop, revise and control the maintenance schedules in compliance to the CAMO services, OEM's, Regulating Authorities and customer procedures and requirements.



Check and validate all requirements production data and limitations as loaded into the MIS to maintain airworthiness.



Produce maintenance and overhaul work packs for the aircraft maintained by SAAT, taking into account:



a) All limits as per the maintenance forecast system

b) Deferred/extended tasks

c) Available resources i.e. Downtime, manpower, material etc.

d) Ensuring that quality and safety are not compromised.



Investigate, authorize and provide inputs upon requests for maintenance check extensions and deferment of maintenance tasks.



Function as project leader or team member on allocated projects.



Provide on job training, lead and oversee functions of the subordinates by delegation.



Analyse work scopes, provide man-hours and downtime quotations for customer aircraft, to produce detailed work pack and workflow plan for maintenance events and quotations purposes.



Perform in-depth independent aircraft maintenance schedules and planning analysis for judgement on the effectiveness of maintenance plans



Assist in development of budget and control of section expenditure.

Qualifications & Experience




Grade 12 or equivalent and;

Be a certificated aviation technician in Mechanical or Avionic skill with 3 years certification experience.

OR

Must be a qualified aviation technician in Mechanical or Avionic skill with 4 years' experience with a N6 or equivalent certificate.

OR

Appointed Senior Planner with 3 years' experience in Production Planning - or Production Control with an aviation trade.

10 years' Aircraft Maintenance experience in Aviation industry and 3 years' Maintenace Planning in an MRO is essentia

l



Knowledge and Skills




Good knowledge of MIS

Be competent in MS Office and Outlook

Good knowledge of SAT organisational policies and procedures.

Very good knowledge of Regulatory requirements.
