Job Title: Planner
Report to: Project Manager
Seniority Level: Mid Career (Above 6 yrs exp)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Project Planning & Scheduling

• Develop baseline schedules using Primavera P6/MS Project for shutdowns, maintenance, and construction projects.

• Create work breakdown structures (WBS) and critical path methods (CPM).

• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and contractors to optimize timelines.

• Resource & Cost Management

• Forecast manpower, equipment, and material requirements.

• Track progress vs. plan and update schedules weekly/daily.

• Assist in budget preparation and cost-loaded schedules.

• Reporting & Compliance

• Generate progress reports (S-curves, histograms, dashboards) for management.

• Ensure compliance with client scheduling standards (e.g., SAP, Aconex).

• Support risk management by identifying delays and proposing mitigations.

• Turnaround & Shutdown Planning

• Plan major maintenance shutdowns (refineries, power plants).

• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).

• Conduct post-shutdown reviews for lessons learned.

Required Qualifications & Skills: Mandatory Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial) or Project Management.

• Certification in Primavera P6/MS Project (essential).

• 3+ years planning experience in oil & gas, mining, or heavy industry.

• Technical Skills

• Advanced Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel (Gantt charts, macros).

• Knowledge of CMMS (SAP PM, Maximo, JD Edwards).

• Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).

• Industry-Specific Knowledge

• Experience in EPCM, EPC, or maintenance planning.

• Familiarity with SABS/SANS standards and OHS Act compliance.
