Job Description

Yuppiechef is looking for an experienced photographer able to lead a high-performance photography team to produce outstanding creative results. Youxe2x80x99ll push the brand forward by constantly innovating and developing our photographic style, building scalable processes, and teaching technical skills to your team.The role reports into the Creative Lead, has three direct reports, and is based from our offices in Westlake, Cape Town.Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the photography team, modelling excellence and mentoring junior team members to meet and maintain our standards, and grow their own technical skillsets
• Defining the photographic direction for large scale marketing campaigns, in collaboration with the Design team
• Setting the tone for the shooting/editing of cross-site image properties, including brand/category thumbnail images, header banners, callouts & other custom images, cross category & brand landing pages, buying guides and shoppable articles
• Constantly improving the quality and efficiency of our product photography, and shooting and editing images for more complex product and packaging shots
• Maintaining a well-run studio space, including keeping an inventory of equipment

Attributes wexe2x80x99re looking for:

• Creative innovation and the willingness to collaborate on ideas with the Design team
• Technical skills including, but not limited to, lighting, styling, set building and retouching
• Quick to build trusting, professional relationships across teams, and collaborate smoothly and productively
• Strong communication, briefing and presentation abilities
• Familiarity with ecommerce marketing as it pertains to photography, editing, retouching and videography
• Able to pivot quickly under pressure
• Positivity, flexibility, helpfulness, and a continuous openness to learning, mentoring and improvement

Qualifications and experience

• 10+ years experience shooting and editing products for fashion/retail/ecommerce, showcased by a world-class portfolio. Experience shooting homeware will be beneficial.
• Experience leading large-scale photographic projects for business-critical marketing campaigns
• Leading/managing a team of photographers or creatives
• A tertiary qualification in photography, design or arts would be an advantage
