WCBS is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to collect, process and distribute blood and blood products of the highest standards in the Western Cape.
A permanent vacancy exists for a Phlebotomist - (Paterson Grade B5)
Purpose of the Job
Screening of Donor
Phlebotomy procedure
All Donor Attendant duties - Clinic Reception and Blood Collection
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 Certificate
Certificate in Phlebotomy Techniques
1-2 years Phlebotomy experience is essential
Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
Previous Blood Transfusion experience would be an added advantage
Computer Literate
Reliable transport
The working hours are variable i.e. shift basis including weekends
A code 08 driver's licence without endorsements
A combination of the following skills, knowledge and attributes is required:
Good interpersonal skills Have a friendly disposition and willingness to "go the extra mile" Accuracy in data collection Fully multilingual Must be able to work as part of a team Skilled in customer services and the ability to deal with the public
As part of the recruitment and selection process, you will be required to complete a psychometric assessment.
