HIV AND OTHER INFECTIOUS DISEASES RESEARCH UNIT DURBAN OFFICE The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) strives to improve the nationxe2x80x99s health and quality of life by funding and conducting relevant and leading health research. It further aims to promote equity, career development and progression. PHARMACIST DURATION: One-Year Contract The HIV and other Infectious Diseases research Unit (HIDRU) requires a skilled/experienced Pharmacist to establish and maintain a research pharmacy and to implement internal policies and procedures for the safe and proper management and accountability of study products as well as non-investigational drugs. The incumbent must manage the position in compliance to all regulatory aspects of the Pharmacy and Pharmacy systems with the South African Pharmacy Council and the Medicines Control Council. Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a research pharmacy at the clinical research site.
  • Provide pharmacist services which include the ordering, receipt, storage, dispensing, accountability and destruction of study products.
  • Ensure pharmacy regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement pharmacy standard operating procedures and guidelines in compliance with the protocol, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP)
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure a high standard of pharmacy data.
Core Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or similar relevant qualification or higher
  • At least one-year experience post community service
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacist
Advantageous:
  • Code 08 Driverxe2x80x99s License, A valid driverxe2x80x99s license is essential for the above post, as the incumbent will be required to drive the company vehicle when necessary.
  • Clinical research experience and science writing skills
  • Experience with aseptic preparation of pharmaceuticals
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Willing to work outside normal working hours, when required.
  • Excellent computer skills, good organizational and analytical skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Proven technical knowledge and skills relevant to the portfolio.
  • A current GCP and HSP training certificate
