Who are we
Sanlam Financial Markets ("SFM") is the business unit in Sanlam Group that is responsible for managing shareholder credit, market, and liquidity risks, developing balance-sheet enabled products, and developing solutions to optimize Sanlam's balance sheet(s) to generate shareholder value. SFM works closely with the Balance Sheet Management function of Sanlam to assist the Balance Sheet Management Function in its pursuit of optimising returns on the Sanlam balance sheet
Overview
The Business Performance Reporting function assists with the analysis of financial results and factors impacting key performance indicators and resides in the SFM Finance. This role reports to the head of performance reporting and product control and is responsible for liaison with business stakeholders, identify and report on business performance insights. This role therefore requires collaboration within Finance and across business as well as providing market insights and outlook that could impact the business performance.
SFM Finance comprises of Financial Reporting and Business Performance & Product Control units.
Key Responsibilities
As a Performance Reporting Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
Report and provide insights on business performance against set business targets or key performance indicators and peers on a regular basis.
Assist in the preparation of business performance reports for submission to respective stakeholders
Liaise with business to assess current business performance insights and to the future
Perform valuations of non-listed assets on a quarterly basis for Sanlam Non-Listed Assets Controlling Body (SNLACB) and other forums submission.
Management of surplus cash in operating bank accounts.
Continuously seek improvements in reporting processes and procedures.
Collaborate with the Cluster and Group functions in providing management information and reports required for various governance structures and for regulatory purposes.
Assist with ad-hoc tasks and other Finance related activities including budgeting and forecasting processes as well as month and year-end Group reporting processes
Key Skills and Required Experience
Newly Qualified CA (SA) or equivalent qualification.
Knowledge of JDE and Murex will be an added advantage.
Financial analysis experience.
Valuations and business performance reporting experience.
Good Excel and power point skills.
Sound understanding of management information
The ability to prepare financial and management reports
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationship with stakeholders
Strong technical and operational capability
