The role







This is a

true generalist role

with a wide remit and will suit someone who is happy being hands on and is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment. You will split your time between day to day HR support of the full employee life cycle (70%) and specialist projects and initiatives (30%). Working out of our newly opened Cape Town office, there are a lot of exciting things to be getting on with from supporting the successful integration of SA with Red Badger UK to taking our performance practices to the next level to upgrading the systems and processes we use to make things run smoothly internally. You won't be expected to do it all but you will get the chance to focus in on the areas you enjoy the most!







You're empathy combined with HR knowledge and pragmatism will mean that you handle issues with care, resolving them to the best possible outcome. You'll take pride in designing and improving frictionless processes that have genuine business impact. And whilst not quite a software engineer you will be tech savvy and know how to get the most of systems and be curious and inspired by what good tech can do enhance work. And above all you will be inspired by progressive HR / People practices and motivated to create a work environment where people flourish and employee experience truly matters.




Key Responsibilities






Support the full employee life cycle from onboarding to offboarding, ensuring processes are fit-for-purpose, whilst remaining Badger-focussed and scalable. Work closely with managers and employees on the full remit of People Practices including performance management, salary & benefits, supporting all types of leave, L&D - always with a focus on the best possible experience with the best possible outcomes. Act as an advisor, coach and mentor on the full remit of a variety of employee relations as they arise. Use your expertise to help solve issues and navigate towards positive outcomes. Advocate a learning culture, ensuring training budgets are effectively used. Be the steward of our HR systems; making sure our data, information and processes are dependable, easy to access, and continuously improved through smart automation and integration. Work to ensure the team is integrated seamlessly into the business. Actively seeking opportunities for collaboration and co-creation. Be an ambassador for the team, promoting what we do, helping to create visibility throughout the business. Champion inclusivity.



The Person

Has strong generalist HR / People experience (ideally across both SA & UK). Leads with a "People Experience" approach to HR - will help to articulate what a good experience looks and feels like, making sure everyone belongs. Experience in Performance Management and / Learning & Development. Highly empathetic, personable and friendly. Not at all stuffy, corporate or formal. Big fan of smart processes; using systems and automation to make things feel seamless, while keeping it real and human. Is a bit of a tech savvy geek who uses data and insights to inform decisions. Is not bureaucratic in the slightest. Appreciates policy for consistency and guidance on best practice but is not the 'policy police'. Is comfortable working in a small, growing environment similar to a start up. Has worked to mid level experience or is ready for a step up. Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment. Has a degree or HR qualification.



It'd be amazing (but not crucial)






Working knowledge of Agile ways of working and Lean Practices. Are comfortable in a start-up environment, where priorities often evolve. * Have experience working in a Digital / Tech company
