Job Description

The Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing, maintaining and optimizing the data within the People Technology landscape. They identify issues, monitor system activities, and provide recommendations for improvements to ensure the seamless functioning of technological infrastructure. They work with the business to ensure data is managed and maintained in line with system principles.




This is a hybrid position - working 3 days a week from our Midrand office.


Key Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities


- Data Transfer: Generate, check, and send selected reports with analysis to organizational stakeholders. Identify the new opportunities for automated data transfer with new technology vendors.


- Data Support and Training: Help teams automate their data from various technology vendors and act as an internal point of contact for data related queries. Manage the workflow requests and work with the team members to assist in the setup of data delivery.


- Data Design: Build and test data provisioning and analysis routines using tools. Alongside developing core tools to be used for knowledge transfer amongst Sage.


- Continuous Monitoring and Testing: Regularly test existing systems to identify any defects or performance issues. Monitor system performance and functionality to ensure they meet business requirements and service level agreements (SLAs). Identify opportunities for greater participation with the business to ensure data is consistently at a high standard within the system to reduce the number of defects and performance issues.


- Support Regression Testing: Conduct regression testing to ensure that recent changes, updates, or patches do not introduce new defects or negatively affect existing functionalities. Maintain and update regression test suites to cover new features or modifications.


- Maintenance and Updates: Test and validate the implementation of routine maintenance tasks, such as system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes. Ensure that maintenance activities do not disrupt business operations or degrade system performance.


- User Support and Training: Assist end-users by providing support for system-related issues and ensuring they understand new functionalities or changes. Conduct training sessions or create user guides to help users navigate updates or new features including how to manage any updates to their team's data.


- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of data principles and interactions between data points. Provide the business with data requirements for any non-BAU reporting requirements.




Skills & Competencies


- Significant HR Cloud based system experience


- Strong understanding of the systems and applications being tested, including familiarity with relevant programming languages, databases, and testing tools


- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities to identify root causes of issues and develop effective solutions.


- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in testing and documentation to ensure thoroughness and reliability.


- Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with technical teams and convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders.


- Ability to adapt to changes in systems, processes, and technologies, and to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.


- Strong teamwork skills to work effectively with developers, support teams, and users to resolve issues and improve system performance.


- Experience of functional testing at various levels, e.g., integrations and regression testing, ad hoc configuration/data change testing, and AMS testing.


- Experience in test management and defect tracking tools.
