Job Overview:
We seek an experienced Payroll Manager/Financial Controller to oversee payroll operations and financial reporting across group entities, ensuring compliance, efficiency, risk management, and team leadership in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Management: Oversee weekly/monthly payroll, ensuring compliance with labor laws, taxes, and policies; manage EMP201, IRP5, tax filings, UIF, COIDA, and IOD claims; use Dbit and Pastel Payroll; train staff on legislative updates; prepare for audits.
Financial Accounting & Control: Manage purchase ledger, bank payments, journal entries, debtors ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT, PAYE, management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and annual audits.
Systems & Process Improvement: Enhance financial controls, automation, and efficiency using Pastel Partner and other tools.
Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to statutory policies (employment equity, BEE, SDL); maintain audit-ready records; implement legislative updates.
Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor finance/payroll teams; foster internal/external relationships; support group initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA/CIMA preferred).
7+ years in payroll management, financial control, and accounting, with leadership experience.
Expertise in Pastel Partner, Dbit, Pastel Payroll, and related systems.
Strong leadership, analytical, and detail-oriented skills.
KPIs: Payroll accuracy, timely submissions, audit compliance, process efficiency, team development.
