Payroll Analysts are responsible for supporting the Payroll team ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. They help to ensure the payroll functions smoothly by maintaining accurate payroll records for businesses.

A Payroll Analysts must be knowledgeable about payroll laws and regulations. Furthermore, it is essential that they have experience using payroll software (SAP) and other technology tools to ensure that payroll processes are accurate and efficient. They must be both technically adept and able to communicate clearly and accurately with employees and managers about payroll processes and answer questions regarding salaries, benefits, and taxes. You will be expected to participate in all system and process change projects.

This job encompasses the effective managing, planning, control and sustainability of Data. Manage the effective integration of the Payroll and Data processes end-to-end for all Platinum Payrolls.

Ensure that all SLA targets and measures are met. Comply with all Governance requirements. Focus on building strong Business relationships by adding value through optimal customer service. In addition, the position will investigate and close any escalated issues stemming from subordinates and escalate any issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate position.

This job encompasses the effective coordination of planning, control and sustainability of Employee Data and Maintenance.

KEY TASKS

Operational Delivery

  • Run daily reports to ensure that all SLA targets, SNOW queries and measures are met.
  • Run weekly report for all open incidents and implement actions.
  • Run weekly report of new hires and terminations and communicate to the medical aids.
  • Accountable for implementing and controlling of all the weekly and monthly checklists.
  • Provide support and coaching to the staff in need.
  • Relief for team members in back-up role for leave and /or high-volume work efforts.
  • Perform UAT Testing for any new or updates on the system configurations.
  • Responsible for the coordination efforts between HR Payroll and other streams to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee master data.
  • Identify process improvement initiatives and define processes for new standards.
Medical Aid and Home Loans
  • Run SAP report and Balance with the monthly billing reports.
  • Thoroughly investigate and clear Discrepancies and Age Reports.
  • Assign investigated queries with a clear instruction to Team Supervisors.
Continuous improvement

SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Create SOP's
  • Maintain/Update SOPs to ensure that they are in line with current processes and RACM (Risk and Control Management)
  • Encourage collaboration to generate innovative ideas that are sustainable & cost effective in the Service Delivery function.
  • Do Root Cause Analysis with the Teams to manage and close out the Incidents.
Training
  • Provide training to new recruits on crucial processes.
  • Provide training on processes based on the Incident Management Report.
Audits
  • Run weekly reports to ensure compliance with all Governance requirements.
  • Check all downloads and imports of external payroll related information including Garnishees and Loans
  • Verify the correctness of the annual salary increase file.
  • Verify the correctness of the bonus incentive files.
People Interaction
  • Actively collaborate within own team and in the wider Anglo American Team to build capacity and relations.
Customer Relationship building
  • Build customer relations through effective communication and efficient issue resolution.
  • Minimal escalations to individual's manager when issues have not been adequately addressed.
  • Contribute toward building strong Business relationships and adding value through optimal customer service.

  • Contribute to the development of the budget.
  • Monitor your costs against budget and either address, or advise your manager of, any variances of note
  • Identify any opportunities for improved cost management and either address these, or raise them with your manager, as appropriate.
Work Processes:
  • Fully understand the policies, processes and systems which apply to your team's work and provide leadership so that your team works within these.
  • Identify any issues around these that interfere with the ability of your team to complete work or meet the plan / strategy. For processes within your authority, make the required changes. For others, escalate these issues to seek action and / or look for alternative solutions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum NQF level 6 Qualification (Diploma)
  • 5 years payroll experience
  • A relevant Payroll qualification (will be advantageous).
  • Recognition of Prior Learning will be acknowledged.
EXPERIENCE
  • 3-5 years payroll and/or HR experience with at least 2 years at a supervisory level
  • At least 2 years SAP HR proficiency
  • Customer service delivery (would be advantageous)
  • Knowledge of SAP systems (SAP 409)
