Job Description

A leading engineering and manufacturing company in Steeledale, Johannesburg, is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to take full ownership of its payroll function. This role involves administering both salaries and wages, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing using Sage Payroll Professional.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer end-to-end processing of monthly salaries and weekly wages using SAGE Payroll Professional.
  • Manage time and attendance systems to ensure seamless integration and accurate data capture.
  • Process payroll inputs, including hours worked, overtime, leave, and other variable components.
  • Generate and distribute payslips and all related statutory reports.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation (PAYE, UIF, SDL, provident/pension fund deductions).
  • Prepare and submit EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliations to SARS and support year-end tax submissions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records and employee data.
  • Respond to employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with payroll audits by providing relevant reports, schedules, and reconciliations.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Matric (Grade 12) required; a relevant payroll or HR qualification is advantageous.
  • Experience with SAGE Payroll Professional is essential.
  • Proven track record in managing both weekly wages and monthly salaries.
  • Solid knowledge of South African payroll legislation and SARS submissions.
  • Experience using time and attendance systems with payroll integration.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with data.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Must be under the age of 34, in line with the company's development initiatives.
