The Opportunity:
Optimal is seeking an experienced and passionate part-time lecturer to deliver training for the Maintenance Planner Short Learning Programme (SLP), aligned to the framework and outcomes described by Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).
This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in physical asset management, maintenance planning, and adult learning. You'll play a vital role in building the competencies of aspiring maintenance planners across industries by delivering structured, outcomes-based learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate delivery of the Maintenance Planner SLP (based on the TUT framework)
Prepare and deliver lectures (online or hybrid) aligned to the prescribed curriculum
Provide real-world case studies, tools, and insights to enrich the learning experience
Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and practical tasks
Provide feedback and support to learners to ensure mastery of core competencies
Assist with continuous improvement of course content and delivery methodology
Ensure alignment with NQF Level 5 outcomes and adult education best practices
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering, or related field
Minimum 5 years of practical experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or CMMS environments
Prior experience in lecturing, training, or facilitating adult learning (preferably in a technical or engineering context)
Familiarity with ISO 55000, RCM, and other best practice maintenance frameworks
Strong communication and facilitation skills - able to engage professionals from diverse backgrounds
Comfortable delivering training virtually and using digital learning platforms
Desirable Attributes:
ETDP (Education, Training and Development Practices) qualification or equivalent
SAP PM, Maximo, or other CMMS system proficiency
Experience delivering content aligned to SAQA unit standards or short learning programmes
Passion for skills development and mentoring
Fluent in English; additional South African languages advantageous
