Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Paint Sales Expert to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for paint sales, colour matching and mixing, maintaining stock levels, and delivering exceptional service to both retail and trade customers. This role requires strong product knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to build lasting client relationships while ensuring smooth daily operations in the paint department.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Customer Service
Greet customers, assess their needs, and recommend suitable paint products, finishes, and tools.
Provide expert advice on colour selection, paint types, and application techniques.
Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
Handle customer queries, complaints, and returns in a professional manner.
Paint Mixing & Colour Matching
Mix paints according to customer specifications using colour-matching systems.
Maintain paint-mixing machines and ensure equipment is calibrated and clean.
Record custom formulations for repeat orders and ensure colour accuracy.
Advertising & Promotions
Assist with in-store promotions, displays, and marketing campaigns to drive sales.
Collaborate with management on advertising strategies and seasonal campaigns.
Provide input on social media or local advertising initiatives to promote products and special offers.
Stock Control & Administration
Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock counts, and ensure shelves are properly stocked.
Place orders for paint and accessories when required.
Receive and check deliveries, ensuring stock accuracy.
Maintain product labels, pricing, and promotional signage.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
Certificate or diploma in Sales, Retail, or related field (advantageous).
Technical paint training or certification in colour matching (preferred).
Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in paint sales, retail hardware, or related environment.
Proven experience in paint mixing and tinting.
Strong product knowledge in paints, coatings, and related tools.
Skills & Attributes:
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and colour accuracy.
Good organizational and stock management abilities.
Basic computer literacy (POS systems, inventory software).
Enthusiastic, reliable, and target-driven.
