Job Title:

Registered Nurse Paediatric ICU

Location: Clinix Dr SK Matseke Memorial Hospital (Soweto).

Reports to: Unit Manager.

Job Summary:

To promote and deliver quality patient care and wellness following industry standards and to execute Nursing duties within the standards, procedures and protocols set down by the South African Nursing Council and the Scope of Practice. The incumbent will collaborate with Doctors, multidisciplinary team members, and the community to provide holistic support to patients and their families and loved ones, while supervising allocated team members within a specialised unit.

Minimum Qualifications and experience:

Nursing degree/diploma. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council. BLS qualification. 2 to 3 years' relevant Nursing experience in a Paediatric ICU unit. A postgraduate diploma qualification in child nursing science is advantageous. Previous experience in a private hospital environment is advantageous. Computer proficiency.

Minimum Duties:

Perform nursing duties following the South African Nursing Council (SANC), Department of Health (DOH) and National Core standards. Adhere to the principles and standards of patient advocacy according to the SANC Acts and Omissions, Company Code of Conduct, Patient Rights and Responsibility Charter, National Millennium Development goals and the responsibility of continuous professional development (CPD). Supervise, organise, lead, and control the quality of care work for self and team, adhering to therapeutic standards and goals. Actively participate in internal and external auditing processes, such as those conducted by the DOH, National Core Standards, SHERQ, SANC, and Risk Audits. Document and maintain accurate files and records of patient medication, and conduct ward rounds. Accompany doctors and other medical practitioners to create and evaluate customised care plans, and implement them.

Monitor activities of nurses to ensure compliance with protocols, security, safety of patient environment, Group Nursing policies and procedures, and SANC requirements on findings through regular unit rounds.
