DBN000174 - Packhouse Manager | KZN Midlands
Purpose of the job:
To oversee the effective production flow, quality assurance, personnel management, and adherence to food safety and export regulations.
Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Food Technology, or Production Management.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in packhouse or fresh produce operations (citrus preferred).
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage diverse teams.
• Strong understanding of export documentation, traceability, and compliance systems.

Technical Competencies and responsibilities

• From intake to dispatch, plan, organize & supervise every aspect of packhouse operations.
• Verify that fruit handling, grading & packing adhere to food safety & export regulations.
• Keep an eye on seasonal employees & other packhouse employees to ensure compliance & productivity.
• Keep thorough records on your output, quality & throughput.
• Keep track of the packing materials' inventory & make sure they are purchased on schedule.
• Coordinate dispatch schedules by communicating with the marketing & logistics departments.
• Put techniques for continuous improvement into practice to boost productivity & cut waste.
• Maintain hygienic practices & standards for occupational health & safety in accordance with certification criteria.
