National Sales Manager: Ophthalmology & Optometry


Job Purpose:

Represents, Details, Sells and Delivers primarily Generic products to Doctors, Specialists and Pharmacies.


Required Learning:





Science / Optometry Degree or other relevant tertiary qualification



A minimum of 3 years sales experience in the Healthcare Industry



Experience selling surgical and capital equipment.



A strong sales background, with a proven track record of achieving targets.



Demonstrate ability to network and build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders



Computer literacy: MS Office (proficient in Excel, Word & Power Point)



A valid driver's license


Key Job Outputs:





Analyse competitor strategies and tactics and stay abreast of latest developments in the market and analyse market trends



Manage a sizable basket of Ophthalmology Diagnostics and Optometric Diagnostic equipment.



Maintain an in-depth understanding of all products and how each product is best used (in-house and international training will be provided) Keep up to date with product feature upgrades and improvements.



Develop, present and implement sales and marketing strategy



Meet or exceed defined territory sales objectives



Ensure healthy relationship with current and potential customers



Build a Sales Pipeline of potential customers and Orders for the Instruments Division and individual territory



Gather customer requirements to ensure customer satisfaction



Generate orders from customers



Maximise time spent with the customers by correct monthly call planning



Conduct trainings at pharmacies and implementation of related strategies.



Understanding company policy and procedures and ensure adherence thereto.



Complete expense claim sheets/online



Complete vehicle logbooks



Correct utilisation of customer relationship marketing



Maintaining customer relations in a cost-effective manner



Call rate and coverage achievement in a six-week cycle as per set standards.



Attend stipulated Congresses in Ophthalmology & Optometry fields. Adhere to company strategy and promotional messaging



Monitoring and control to ensure achievement of instrument sales objective.



Keeping abreast of all new software and hardware upgrades and informing customers of these upgrades in conjunction with Service Manager



Develop and manage key accounts/customers.



Achieve to agreed call rate by customer type.

Strong general computer literacy with intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook



Good organising skills.



Work independently, time management and planning skills.



Excellent coaching and facilitation skills.
