Operations / Technical Manager required for an Automotive Accessories company in JHB R50,000-R58,400 per month. _________________________________________________________________________


Privately owned company that specialises in the distribution of premium automotive accessories in the Southern African region.
The company operates from a centrally located warehouse in JHB where all products are received, processed, stored, and distributed. The facility also has offices where the administrative functions of the company are maintained.
The company supplies OEM, P&A and Aftermarket accessories to most of South Africa’s leading motor manufacturers including Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Mercedes Benz. Further OEM supplier growth is planned in the coming years with Toyota, Isuzu, Renault, GWM and Peugeot as well as growth in our neighbouring SACU countries. The company will also be embarking on small scale assembly and manufacturing operations this year.


To work closely with the Board of Directors in executing its strategy and to ensure the effective and efficient technical operations of the company to sustain its reputation as a supplier of premium automotive accessories.
The responsibilities of the position include:
  • Overseeing all technical issues relating to product warranty, product development, new product design, product assembly, product installation and fitting instructions as well as customer liaison on all technical issues.
  • The general management of the warehouse including timeous despatch and delivery, inventory management, security, housekeeping and health and safety.
  • Growing sales volumes, including the development of sales plans and forecasts and the delivery thereof, as well as customer relationship management.
  • Development of the product assembly value chain for certain products, including sourcing of raw materials, tooling, assembly, packaging and labelling.
  • Development of systems and processes to guide, control and optimise the aforementioned activities.
  • Leading a warehouse, sales and technical team at our Germiston warehouse as well as a team of contracted installers across the region in a values-driven manner to deliver on the responsibilities of the position.

Success will be measured by the delivery of technical operational and sales plans versus budget, maintaining a high standard of customer communication and service delivery, maintaining the warehouse and inventory in a sound and safe manner, development of a cost-effective assembly facility and the productivity and motivation of the team reporting to the position.

  • OUTPUTS 2021/2022

  • Timeous reporting to the Directors on technical issues, warranties, inventories as well as technical, operational and sales plans versus budget.
  • Ensuring a healthy, productive and motivated technical, sales and warehouse team through values-driven leadership and management practices in line with Company and labour best practice and policy.
  • Ensuring that all technical matters including warranty adjudication, customer liaison on technical matters, product fitment and product development are timeously and thoroughly dealt with.
  • Developing hands on knowledge of all products and the fitment and installation thereof.
  • Sustained focus on the reduction of costs, streamlining of operations and efficient dispatch of goods to dealer networks and manufacturers.
  • Ensuring good housekeeping, security and safety and health practices in the warehouse.
  • Ensuring sound inventory management.
  • Ensuring the proper maintenance of facilities and infrastructure, such as buildings, machinery, tools, company vehicles, warehouse plant and equipment and security systems.
  • Developing sales forecasts and plans; keeping customers informed of product developments and new product introductions and developing new customer bases.
  • Developing an assembly value chain for specific products in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Developing relationships with motor manufacturers to ensure that our existing products are supported, new products are developed, and that market intelligence is utilised in the further growth of the company.
  • Developing systems and processes to guide, control and optimise the aforementioned activities.

  • Qualifications:

  • Tertiary education preferred – Engineering Degree or Diploma; and/or

  • Management certification/diploma/degree

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required

  • Proficiency in CAD preferred

  • Code B South African motor vehicle licence required

  • Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in a technical role in the automotive industry,

  • 5 to 10 years general management experience

  • Suitable experience in the following areas
    • sales
    • warehouse management and stock control

  • Experience with using SAGE or PASTEL accounting software (Customers, Suppliers and Accounts)

The incumbent will be required to own and maintain their own personal vehicle for which an allowance will be made in the determination of remuneration. A double cab pick-up would be preferred, which the company would accessorise at their own expense.


Remuneration will be commensurate with inherent knowledge, skill and experience as well as with the seniority of the role. Remuneration will include allowances for a mobile telephone, personal computer and motor vehicle as described in point 5. The successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as is reasonably possible but no later than 1 June 2021.
