R 720 000 Annually

Our client, a rural development NGO, is searching for an experienced Operations Manager, who has worked previously within a NGO environment - to be based at their offices in Howick.

Duties include:

• Drafting operational plans and budgets;
• Setting up digital reporting systems for gathering data from the field;
• Analysing reported data, identifying variances and reasons for deviations;
• Providing support and advice for Programme Leader and field staff;
• Assisting management with fundraising and reporting;
• Critically assessing programme progress and proposing improvements;
• Training field staff in use of technology (e.g. computers, GPS mapping);
• Collaborating with other NGOs and exploring potential synergies for mutual benefit;
• Carry out all such tasks as are assigned by the Director;
• Be prepared to live on site and carry out the various responsibilities associated therewith.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• A valid Police Clearance Certificate, clearing a potential candidate to work with children.
• At least 10 years in a management and decision-making role
• Business Management Degree (or equivalent) at Honours or Masters level
• Experience in working with cross-cultural and cross-functional teams, particularly within an NGO environment.
• Honesty and integrity;
• A team-player, wanting the best for the team above personal ambition;
• A skilled writer, and good at compiling narrative reports for donors;
• Good interpersonal skills;
• Self-motivated and a good motivator of fellow team members;
• Teachable, and able to teach others;
• Able to think strategically;
• Demonstrates good stewardship of resources, including time and finance;
• Good command of isiZulu will be an advantage.

Measured Ability
