Job Description

The role of the OPERATIONS MANAGER will report into the COO and be responsible for the operations of a production facility with complex production lines producing wholesale steel products.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure Operational Efficiency and Process Improvement through

• Production and warehouse processes: Implement lean manufacturing and 5S principles to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
• Coordinate and improve handover processes between warehouse and production to reduce operation lead times and eliminate down time.
• Analyze bottlenecks in production and warehouse operations and recommend solutions.
• Track KPIs (e.g. job run rates, downtime, loading times etc.) and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Assist in the digitization and automation of warehouse and production operations
• Continuously audit and update SSOPs and procedures

Uphold strict Safety and Compliance through

• Enforcing safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety among all employees.
• Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies related to environmental, health, and safety standards.
• Ensuring SSOPs are maintained and enforced.

Reporting and Continuous improvement through

• Preparing and presenting weekly/monthly reports on operational performance, challenges, and improvement initiatives.
• Leading continuous improvement projects, including root cause analysis for production and logistics inefficiencies.
• Driving ISO compliance on the shop floor and ensure all lessons from NCR's are implemented

Develop and lead a high-performing operations and production team through hands-on leadership and inspiring continuous improvement attitude.
Experience and qualifications:

• Relevant qualification or hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
• 10+ years experience in a similar role (of which 4 years should have been in a supervisory/ mentoring capacity)
• Experience in process improvement and optimisation like lean six sigma
• Experience implementing production planning and scheduling technology in the factory.

This role will suit an Operational Manager who enjoys managing and leading through a hands-on approach. Someone who is comfortable working in a warehouse environment and can influence and inspire staff to achieve operational efficiencies at all levels.
This role is based in Wadeville.
