A leading transportation company is looking for an experienced Operations Manager with strong leadership skills and proven expertise in managing passenger transport services to join their team in Cape Town, Western Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, maintaining customer satisfaction, and ensuring operational excellence in line with company objectives.
Responsibilities:
Oversee transportation operations, including scheduling, routing, and fleet management.
Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation regulations and company safety standards.
Direct, motivate, and manage drivers, supervisors, and operational staff.
Monitor performance, productivity, and service delivery standards.
Conduct regular client and site visits, manage subcontractors, and ensure service quality.
Develop and implement budgets, cost controls, and operational efficiency strategies.
Provide training, enforce company policies, and manage disciplinary processes.
Maintain effective communication across teams and management.
Address risks, implement contingency plans, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Negotiate with subcontractors, manage transport costs, and implement sustainable transport strategies.
Requirements:
35 years of experience in passenger transportation operations management.
Strong knowledge of logistics and transport systems, vehicle dispatch, and regulatory compliance.
Tertiary qualification in logistics, transport management, or a related field (preferred).
Advanced computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and tracking systems).
Strong analytical, financial, negotiation, and communication skills.
Proven leadership and people management abilities.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and shifts.
