Salary: R20 000 basic negotiable and dependent on related experience
A well-established FMCG export company based in Tygervalley is seeking to appoint an Operations & Shipping Assistant to join their growing team. This role offers long-term stability and the opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced international trading environment.
The ideal candidate is mature, organised, and calm under pressure, with a solid work ethic and a background in shipping, freight forwarding, or logistics.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (a tertiary diploma/certificate in logistics or related fields is advantageous)
- 5+ years' work experience in freight forwarding / shipping / logistics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Own transport and valid driver's licence
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Clear and confident communicator
- Able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
- Reliable, hardworking, and a strong team player
- Proactive with a high level of accountability
- Forecast storage and shipping capacity needs from service providers
- Track shipped orders and ensure delivery timelines are met
- Investigate and resolve delays or discrepancies with shipping lines
- Prepare and distribute weekly reports according to set deadlines
- Send order confirmations to suppliers
- Follow up on outstanding documentation
- Import loading data into internal systems
- Update supplier stock sheets
- Place orders and confirm loadings
