SUMMARY

The Centre of Psychotherapy Excellence (COPE), is a multi-disciplinary treatment programme that lies at the heart of Akeso's mental health facilities and specialises in mental health care services. The permanent Occupational Therapist position will be based at the Akeso Kenilworth Clinic. The incumbent will contribute and coordinate all mental health related activities ensuring quality care and support to patients in the adolescent unit and adults in the Highcare, General and Dual diagnosis unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Facilitate daily group therapy sessions

? Facilitate weekly outpatient/aftercare support program

? Provide ongoing outpatient therapeutic services

? Orientation/intake assessments

? Occupational Therapy assessments as needed

? Management of individual cases

? Conduct individual sessions

? Active engagement in weekly ward rounds

? Supervision and professional development in line with the requirements of HPCSA

? Record keeping requirements in line with the HPCSA regulations and group practice

? Work as a fully integrated member of the multi-disciplinary team in the adult general psychiatry unit

? Administrative duties for COPE as required to ensure smooth running of the therapeutic program and units.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

? Professional Registration as an Occupational therapist

? Registered with HPCSA and BHF

? Knowledge and experience of DBT principles would be advantageous
