Occupational Therapist - Tokai OT (Innate Potential- Sasha Prinsloo Occupational Therapy)

Faircape Health, a division of the Faircape Group, owns and manages six luxury lifestyle villages with state of the art and technologically advanced Healthcare Centres at each village.

We are seeking an experienced and energetic person to fulfil the role of Occupational Therapist to work between our 2 facilities Tokai Health care centre in the Southern Suburbs and Heritage Manor in Somerset West.

The incumbent will be responsible to provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to the patients at Tokai Health care centre as inpatients and outpatients, as well as inpatients at Heritage Manor. Tokai Estate is a 60 bed subacute facility seeing adult patients with different orthopedic, neurological and medical conditions.

Duties include but is not limited to the following:

  • Direct intervention tasks: assessment, intervention planning, intervention implementation, group activity planning & facilitation, family meetings, family education & support.
  • Record keeping and administrative duties.
  • Ensure quality Occupational Therapy services are provided.
  • Meetings and communication.
  • Carer training to promote Occupational Therapy services.
  • Team participation in healthcare centre operations: pre-admission, admission, discharge, staff team building, staff evaluation & orientation.
Qualifications
  • Degree in OT and registered as an independent practitioner with HPCSA
  • Malpractice insurance
  • CPD compliance with HPCSA
  • MOCA certification
Experience and Knowledge
  • 2+ years post community service experience working with the adult population
  • Experience in working with neurological, orthopaedic and wheelchair seating conditions.
  • Special interests/training in Occupational Therapy in palliative care and Dementia care.
  • Experience in off-road driving assessments.
  • Basic wheelchair seating training (Advantageous)
  • Bobath training or neuro short courses ( Advantageous)

Specific Requirements -
  • Own Transport and drivers licence
  • No criminal record

Working days will be Monday - Friday from 08h00 - 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break (one weekend per month working will be required as well as some public holidays).

Salary on offer is market related and will be based on experience and training.
