Night Shift Manager - Food Processing
Location: Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal
Salary: Basic salary negotiable + benefits + incentives
Monday - Friday, 18:00 - 04:00
An established meat processing business is seeking a hands-on Night Shift Manager to oversee and ensure the smooth functioning of production and operations during the night shift. This key role requires strong leadership, a solid understanding of food safety, and a proven ability to manage teams and processes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum 3 years' supervisory or management experience in a food or meat processing facility
Matric (Grade 12); a diploma or degree in Operations Management, Food Technology, or related field is advantageous
Familiarity with HACCP principles and food safety standards
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to make decisions under pressure
Computer literacy and familiarity with production tracking/reporting systems
Own transport and willingness to work night shifts
Clear credit and criminal record
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all operations during the night shift, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met
Coordinate smooth handovers with the day shift team
Supervise and support night shift employees, ensuring productivity and morale are maintained
Conduct quality control spot checks in collaboration with QA staff
Monitor production lines for efficiency and adherence to SOPs
Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and safety regulations
Identify and address hazards or equipment malfunctions promptly
Oversee staffing levels, breaks, and workflow to avoid production delays
Train team members in emergency procedures and proper equipment use
Prepare and submit shift reports outlining output, issues, and equipment concerns
Coordinate with the maintenance team for repairs or preventative actions
