Job Description

The Network Security Administrator is responsible for protecting the organisation's network, data, and systems from unauthorised access and cyber threats. This includes implementing and enforcing security policies, monitoring for vulnerabilities, managing security technologies such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, and ensuring compliance with security standards. The role also supports user access control, conducts audits, responds to incidents, and promotes safe network practices through user
training.

Job Objectives
Firewall & Security Device Management:

  • Configure, monitor, and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Apply and update security rules and policies to protect network traffic.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of security devices.
  • Maintain logs and documentation for all firewall changes and configurations.
Threat Monitoring & Incident Response:
  • Monitor network traffic and logs for suspicious activity using SIEM tools.
  • Respond to security alerts and escalate complex incidents to senior engineers.
  • Assist in forensic investigations and document findings for compliance.
  • Support root cause analysis and remediation of vulnerabilities.
Compliance & Security Standards:
  • Enforce organisational security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct routine security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all security configurations and changes.
  • Ensure adherence to data protection and privacy standards.
User Access Control & Identity Management:
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights across systems.
  • Implement least-privilege principles and monitor for unauthorised access attempts.
  • Review and update access control lists regularly.
Security Awareness & Training:
  • Educate staff on safe network practices and phishing prevention.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness sessions and materials.
  • Promote a culture of cybersecurity across the organisation.
Collaboration & Upskilling:
  • Work closely with IT teams to integrate security into network operations.
  • Participate in training programs to progress toward Security Engineer level.
  • Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in IT Networking, Cybersecurity, or related field - (beneficial).
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security , Network , or Cisco CCNA Security - (essential).
Experience
  • 2 years in network administration, IT security support roles or similar - (essential).
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools - (essential).
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, and basic cybersecurity principles - (essential).
