Network Engineer

in the

IT Department.





The IT Network Engineer position has a tactical responsibility to run and sustain the Telecoms, Network, Security infrastructure (Infrastructure, Processes and Interfaces) in South Africa. The incumbent of the role is responsible for the Hardware Infrastructure, Network Software, Tools Servers, Asset Management and Security Management. The incumbent of the role further manages cellular communications contracts execution, device deployment and lifecycle management.

Minimum Requirements



Diploma in Information Technology (Communication Networks) Computer Literacy CCNA Routing, Switching & Security Certification CCNP Routing, Switching and Security Certification advantageous. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Certification (2011).

1 to 3 Years practical experience in:


Representing IT within the business. Influencing the business to accept/incorporate processes and systems. A similar IT operational role supporting a business unit. Understanding of processes and systems in the functional areas would be advantageous

Behavioural Competencies:


Displays integrity and is customer focused. Ability to work under pressure when navigating through major incidents or disasters. Self-Managed - Manage personal workload through detailed work planning and prioritization. Communication and presentation skills. Organisational skills Relationship management

In-depth knowledge of:


Telecoms infrastructure landscape (SDWAN, Switching, Routing and Internet). Cisco Network infrastructure landscape (Cisco hardware / software). Cisco Wi-Fi infrastructure (Controller and MESH based) Security infrastructure landscape (Firewall, ISE, Umbrella Proxy and Cisco VPN). Telecoms, Network, Security software and tools landscape. Advanced Networking concepts and terms. Threat and Vulnerability management.

Duties and Responsibilities




Manage Telecoms, Network, Security and Cellular Landscapes:


Hardware racking and decommissioning, refresh cycles, maintenance and repair administration. Facilities support. License administration. Monitors Health checks schedule. Tools servers administration. Software version management.

Manage Telecoms, Network and Security based on the ITIL Framework:


Asset and configuration management. Incident and problem management. Information security management. Change management. Capacity and Availability management. Disaster Recovery Planning and Execution.

Executes Telecoms, Network, Security and Cellular Communications Projects:


Executes Infrastructure projects as scheduled. * Delivers projects on time and in budget.
