Job Description


Responsibilities

Reporting

  • Manage and oversee financial reporting activities whilst ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Implement efficient reporting processes and systems to optimize the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting
  • Prepare financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and various financial reports for management and stakeholders
Cash flow management
  • Oversee the overall corporate budgeting preparation, financial management and financial monitoring processes
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks that impact the company's performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes
  • Monitor and analyse key financial metrics to assess the company's financial health and identify areas for improvement
  • Utilize your expertise to guide strategic financial planning and investment initiatives
  • Create strategic partnerships by collaborating with other departments and senior management to align financial goals with overall business strategies
  • Support the business on the efficiency of funding
  • Support financial resource optimisation initiatives
Cost accounting
  • Preparation and improvement of management accounts
  • Assisting with implementation of finance department controls
  • Review of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Review of bank allocations
  • Review of ad-hoc payments
  • Preparation of VAT information from accounting system
  • Identifying and assisting with finance issues arising from other departments
  • Monthly review of intercompany balances including loans
  • Financial audit liaison and preparation
  • Reconciliations
  • Calculation of internal recoveries and product costing
Payroll
  • Proactively identify improvements and continuously monitor delivery
  • Define standards and reusable approaches for payroll
  • Detailing and updating payroll policies and procedures
  • Coordinate timekeeping systems, oversee payroll changes, and oversee system changes / upgrades
  • Oversee and direct payroll audits, and where necessary, act as the primary point of contact with auditing
  • Oversee bank releases
  • Oversee payroll accuracy with respect to meeting timelines and maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Prepare reports on summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, workers compensation etc.
  • Tax year-end processing for all payroll systems (recon annual payroll information, submit EMP501, EMP201, prepare IRP5's for distribution)
  • Review submissions prepared by the Payroll Team
  • Ensure that company policies are adhered to
  • Assist in resolving all payroll discrepancies
  • Assist with General Ledger reconciliation discrepancies
Mergers / Acquisitions management
  • Support and assist the company's merger / acquisitions strategy in alignment with senior management's objectives
  • Evaluate potential acquisition targets, conducting financial analysis, valuations and due diligence
  • Prepare comprehensive business cases, including acquisition proposals, disposals, and joint ventures
  • Support negotiations with potential targets, ensuring optimal deal structures and favorable terms
Fundraising management
  • Support the CFO in designing, developing and executing a fundraising strategy
  • Raise awareness about the companys mission, programs, and activities by identifying speaking engagements, conferences and other major events in which the CFO should participate
  • Conduct research on potential funders with an emphasis on identifying new prospects and cultivating existing funder relationships
  • Assist with information gathering interviews with potential funders to assess their interest in funding the companys mission and to determine how best they may be engaged as a funder
Requirements
  • Qualified CA(SA)
  • Minimum post article experience of 5 years
  • Procurement and or Supply Chain exposure will be advantageous
  • Proven working experience in a similar role
  • Acquisition, fundraising exposure and cost accounting will be advantageous
