National Commercial Manager | Shipping and Logistics
A leading player in the shipping and logistics industry is seeking an experienced National Commercial Manager to lead their Durban-based team. This senior role will drive commercial strategy, spearhead sales, marketing, and customer service efforts, and lead national teams to boost revenue and market share. At least 8 years experience in a senior commercial role within the Liner Shipping industry and Ships Agency experience are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute national sales and growth strategies
Lead and mentor commercial teams across SA (Durban, JHB, CPT)
Build strong client relationships and manage key accounts
Oversee pricing, tenders, budgeting, and forecasting
Ensure seamless customer service and operational alignment
Monitor market trends and competitor activity
Requirements:
810+ years in senior commercial roles within the Liner Shipping industry
Ships Agency experience essential
In-depth knowledge of the container shipping industry, including import / export processes, port operations, and supply chain logistics
Understanding of freight pricing models, trade lanes, and capacity planning
Familiarity with customs regulations, shipping documentation, and regulatory compliance in South Africa
Strong leadership across multi-location teams
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and negotiation skills
