About Us:

Fairmont High School has grown as a traditional English co-ed school boasting some 1500 learners and a staff complement of over 80 educators in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

The candidate:

Fairmont High School is seeking the services of a suitably qualified Music Teacher to join our team from January to December 2024. Newly qualified music teachers are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities of the successful candidate would include:

• Fulfilling a teaching and music-related co-curricular programme role within the school.
• Teaching junior theory lessons.
• Singing / vocal coaching.
• Teaching at least one orchestral instrument.
• Playing and teaching piano.
• Directing and facilitating musical ensembles.
• Training and conducting a mixed choir.
• Providing accompaniment for concerts and eisteddfods
• Playing a key role in the development and growth of support for and participation in music.

Requirements:

• BMus or any other suitable music-related qualification, as well as a teaching qualification for the FET phase.
• Knowledge of and basic experience teaching the CAPS curriculum.
• Experience providing accompaniment for concerts and eisteddfods.
• A passion for music demonstrated by innovation, professionalism and commitment.
• Effective organisational and administrative skills.
• Willingness to be available after school hours for extra-curricular teaching, involvement in special events and concerts, school productions and tours.
• Competent in the use of technology for administrative and teaching purposes.
