Conducting Research in Poultry and Insect Production
Insect Rearing and Facility Management: You will be responsible for managing and optimizing our yellow mealworm rearing facility to ensure a consistent supply for experiments.
Feed Impact Assessment: Design and conduct poultry feeding trials to evaluate the effects of incorporating yellow mealworm meal on chicken health, growth performance, and product quality (e.g., meat and eggs).
Processing and Product Quality: Investigate the impact of various drying methods (e.g., oven drying and freeze drying) on the nutritional quality, safety, and shelf life of mealworm products
Assists in coordinating work activities and supervises allocated resources if applicable,
Collects, captures, and processes data,
Publishes semi-scientific and peer-reviewed articles, and publishes in journals with a high impact factor,
Draw up monthly reports with regard to research progress and data statistics,
Dissemination of the research results in scientific platforms, locally and internationally,
Dissemination of results to the general public platforms
Participate in national and international networking-related activities
Honours degree (or equivalent) in Animal Science
Undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications must be accompanied by an academic record
A proven research background in agricultural Animal Science applicable to Poultry
Ability to work with other students,
Good communication skills (written and verbal),
Registration with a relevant scientific registration body will be an added advantage.
Computer literacy and proficiency in the MS Office suite
